WK 05 title screen final

Here's the improved version of my title page. Last time I got a comment about it not being obvious as to what the game's about, thing is that's kind of the point. As the game goes on you're going to be piecing together why you're involved in the protagonist's life to begin with and what you need to do. The setting of the title screen should be slightly obvious after the game is finished, with either ending.

Week 05 - title screen concept phase

Here I have the concept of the title screen of my game. Naturally it isn't finished, but I was able to get what I wanted most out from it. I also added animation but we don't need that until later.

Final Wk04 Mood Board Final Phase

First, here is the new improved mood board for Limbo. Since Black and White have the exact same hue, I decided to instead sort them by brightness rather than hue. This actually ended up helpful to me later on.

Now for the main point, I have the original outside image with the colors properly arranged. This is what everything will look like, more or less outside the house where the game takes place. However I decided to add in a night version of the same photo. To do this I ended up making a Hue/Saturation layer and removed the Saturation. I also put a color layer on top and set the style to Hard Light. This was the result.

If you can notice the same order was mostly used... however I noticed that rectangles 3 and four here had the same hue and decided to sort them in the order I placed them because rectangle 4 had a higher saturation and brightness. Other than that the rectangles for both images are sorted by hue.

Here I have the inner empty room in a proper order based on hue, this is relatively unchanged. However once I applied an invert filer by making a masking layer...

And suddenly we have a much gloomier atmosphere... I'm not sure if it's creepier this way, but it definitely seems darker.

Bear in mind I'm probably not going to use ANY of these same shots in the final build, but I will be using the same techniques.

Wk04 Mood Board Concept Phase

Alright, so first I have a poster of a nice dark horror-like game Limbo. It's dark and has very few colors... I swear I only picked it because of the atmosphere not the lack of colors to pick.

Next I have the unmodified early empty indoors color palette, once I've mastered drawing things on my own I should be able to make an environment based off of this palette.

Lastly, I have an outdoor daytime color palette, once again this is unmodified so the cars aren't going to be in the final product. So they aren't included in the palette.

Wk03 Game Pitch Final Phase

Story: Seven people live in seven rooms in the same house, every day they go through their daily routines. One day people start disappearing from the house one by one and leave no evidence of them ever existing. None of the people ever notice it, not even the main character. The player must discover what's going on and save the main character, while he's limited to just giving the main character suggestions on what to do and where to go.

Characters
The player- an entity that has always been there for the main character, even if she only sort of notices it. The player causes small objects to move and suggests where she should go and what she should do.

The main character- A young woman who has no idea what's going on, she only slightly notices the player's presence and acts like the player is her imaginary friend.

The main character's boyfriend- a shy young man who loves the main character deeply, despite only dating her for a couple months.

The other five character's - five college students living in the same house as the main character. They've all known each other for a while and decided to split the rent of the small house.

Environments- outside will be snow covered and snow will block the door. The inside will be wooden and cozy looking for the first few days. However as the days go by and more people disappear the lighting gets darker and darker.

Time period - modern day

Location-Somewhere cold, I haven't exactly decided yet.

Designs, lighting, colors,etc.- as the days go by the lighting and colors get darker and closer to black, respectively. Naturally the main character's don't notice this.

Wk03 Game Pitch Concept Phase

I'm going to do a game where people are living in a house and then day by day the people start to disappear. All traces of them are gone, everything they ever had to do with is either forgotten or removed.

The kind of things I want to focus on would be empty, barren, dust covered rooms, fairly standard looking cartoon people and... emotions, looks of confusion, longing, fear, or worry.

Wk02 Rock, Paper, Scissors Final Phase

Okay I didn't exactly have much time to work on this one since I didn't have my computer recently... but I also messed up the first part of the project so its going to be pretty bad in comparison to some other people's... Sorry in advance.

Wk02 Rock, Paper, Scissors Concept Phase

I picked a basic series of RPS images, I mostly chose either the hands or the literal version. I also included Japanese characters simply because I know what Janken is. I plan to draw hands or symbols in a cycle to show the winner.... also I completely misunderstood the instructions. I only realized this when other people started to present thiers.
